Blackstone predicts Anthropic will receive a high junk rating after its IPO, according to a Financial Times report. The investment giant previously expected the AI lab to achieve an investment-grade rating before 2027. A high junk rating would make it more expensive and difficult for Anthropic to raise capital.
Blackstone is the anchor investor in a $63 billion deal financing Anthropic’s chip purchases. The AI lab filed for an initial public offering earlier this week and has spent heavily on compute power over the last 12 months. Investors have expressed concern about the company’s massive spending and cash burn.
